Jiading workers vital to success of moon landing

It was an exciting time for employees of the Shanghai Aerospace Electronics Company in Jiading District to see China’s lunar probe Chang’e-3 landing on the moon on December 14.

It was the first time a Chinese spacecraft had soft-landed on the surface of an extraterrestrial body.

The Jiading workers had taken part in the research work on the responder on the Chang’e-3, and Yutu, or Jade Rabbit, the moon rover.

To ensure the responder as light as possible, and guarantee its high quality performance presented a big challenge for the researchers.

Faced with such huge challenges and tight schedules, the company made an hourly task table for each department.

Any problem that could delay the schedule for more than three hours had to be reported within an hour, so as to guarantee the project successfully completed.
