The world’s sixth and Asia’s only Porsche Experience Center recently opened to the public in Jiading, offering unique driving experiences for Porsche fans and customers.
Covering an area of 100,000 square meters, the experience center has direct access to the 5.5-kilometer Shanghai International Circuit.
The facility consists of the center building and a range of tracks including a 1.4-kilometer Handling Circuit, which can be split into separate areas or connected to form a longer circuit.
The driving areas include a Kick Plate module, Low Friction Circle, Dynamic Paddock and off-road areas.
The Kick Plate module simulates real-life hazards all year round. Drivers will be taught the correct way to bring their cars under control in any emergency.
The facility can simulate ice-covered roads and other conditions where the loss of rear wheel traction can put the car into a skid or idle.
The Dynamic Paddock offers over 7,500 square meters of flexible event space to practice and perfect any maneuvers drivers may encounter.
The bridge over the pit straight provides direct access to the Dynamics Paddock from the Porsche Experience Center.
Off-road areas are designed with steep declines and ascents, rough terrain and unfeasible side slopes to show how the technical systems on the Porsche Cayenne work in off-road conditions.
The Low Friction Circle is a 40-meter-long circular road paved with polished concrete surrounded by computer-controlled sprinklers to create a low-friction environment.
Here, drivers can also try, adjust and control oversteer at various speeds to become familiar with a vehicle’s dynamic performances.
Children will also find something to occupy them in the experience center. Simulated racing games and interactive area will give them an understanding of the development of the automobile industry.
