Living a smart life in apartments in Jiading New Town

JIADING is getting smarter every day.

Smart living is making it possible for residents to open the curtains, start the air conditioner and turn on the electric water heater with a tablet computer.

"Using a tablet computer, I can control most of the electric appliances at home. It seems that I'm in a movie," Xie Wen said, after he moved into his new apartment at Poly Lakeside Sunlight Garden in Jiading New Town.

When Xie returns home each day, he picks up the tablet at the entrance hall. With a simple touch, the curtains open, the washing machine turns on and the electric rice cooker starts preparing the rice for dinner. After he changes his clothes and sits on the sofa, he touches the tablet again, the television and air conditioner turn on.

Guo Lin is also experiencing this smart living in the same residential area.

"I make breakfast for the family every morning, so I had to get up one hour earlier than the others," Guo said. "But now I can use a tablet to turn on the electric rice cooker and the soybean milk machine in the bed. It gives me time to sleep a little longer or read the news on my mobile."

Smart living is no longer just a dream or a display in an exhibition hall. For some buyers, the space is no longer the only consideration. They also want the latest technology for their homes. Likewise, for some real-estate developers, smart living has also become an important marketing strategy.

Pangu Tiandi is another smart living community in Jiading New Town. The smart underground parking lot is one of its highlights. When the driver enters the parking lot with a smart card, the sensor from the car will tell the parking lot to turn on its LED lights, which will lead the driver to the parking space. According to the engineer in charge of the design, the system reduces the parking lot's power usage by 50 to 80 percent.
