Looking for a bumper harvest

AUTUMN Equinox, one of China's 24 solar terms, usually occurs around September 22. It's an important term for agriculture, because after that day the temperature usually drops rapidly.

The autumn harvest, as well as autumn planting and ploughing are all done around the equinox. In northern China regions, the planting of winter wheat has already started while in southern China the harvest of late rice is under way and farmers are busy tilling land to plant rape plants.

The traditional moon worship festival used to be held at Autumn Equinox, and was later moved to Mid-Autumn.
