‘Micro Community’ brings services closer to residents
AN online service center — “Micro Community” — has recently begun operating at the Jiahao Community in Jiangqiao Town. It provides 25 services, including grocery delivery and utility bill payments.
“It’s better than I expected,” said Tong Hongying, who had just received rice and dates ordered online. She moved to the community from downtown Shanghai’s Changning District in January and found it difficult to buy daily necessities.
“There is no wet market or supermarket nearby. It takes at least half an hour to go to the nearest ones, and it’s a disaster during rainy or hot weather,” Tong said.
Now she can order what she needs on her mobile phone. After placing an order, she receives them from neighborhood stores. “The service saves a lot of time for me,” she said.
For young people in the neighborhood, the community also provides a collecting service for couriered parcels. They can get the parcels from storage boxes with passwords sent to their mobile phones.
“It takes more than half an hour to get my pension from the nearest bank, and we have to go to Metro stations to charge transport cards, all these are so inconvenient for us retired people,” Zheng Peijun said after moving to the community. Now it only takes minutes to get his pension and charge transport cards at a payment machine in the neighborhood. Utility bills can also be paid there.
