THE third phase technical reconstruction of the Shanghai Motor Vehicle Inspection Center, which cost 500 million yuan (US$79 million), has entered a crucial stage. The newly built labs will cover an area of 33,500 square meters. When completed next year, the labs will be used for inspecting new energy cars, batteries, heavy vehicles and other vehicles and equipment.
