Museum displays models collected over 20 years
the China Commercial Vehicle Model Museum in Jiading New City has more than 1,400 models on display.
Li Yi, 55, has been collecting model vehicles since he was a boy. When he began working for a company supplying hardware for vans and wagons, he often received customized truck models as gifts from automobile companies. After collecting for over 20 years, Li has more than enough model trucks to fill the display stand at his company.
Any new models had to be put in a storeroom.
The museum covers an area of some 2,000 square meters and the collection is growing at the rate of 10 new models a month with Li going abroad three times a year in search of truck models.
Visitors will see a King brand semi-trailer near the gate of the museum. Li found the model at a second-hand market in Japan in 2011 and it cost him over 4,000 yuan (US$644). After installing a battery, the lights can be turned on and the model can run with the sound of diesel engine. 鈥淓ven though it鈥檚 a model, its power and torsion are quite impressive,鈥 Li said.
The main hall of the museum is filled with truck models. The models are displayed according to their types, including tractors for special purpose, fire extinguishers, cargo trucks and military vehicles.
