GRAPES are hanging heavily on the vines in Malu Town; the lotuses of Guyi Garden are blooming beautifully; peaches at the Lijiang Orchard taste sweet and delicious. When it comes to the summer, natural beauty abounds in Jiading.
Malu grapes
Malu Town is known as the "Turpan of Shanghai" and the grapes in this area mature in July. The 11th Malu Grape Festival is currently in full swing until October 7.
The festival showcases the unique charm of Jiading with blooming lotuses and delicious Malu grapes. Meanwhile, a series of activities will be held to attract visitors including a graffiti and photography talent show, family fun activities, grape tasting, Chinese Valentine's Day party and a tour of a wine castle.

By car: Middle-Ring Road-S5 (Shanghai-Jiading) Expressway-Malu exit-turn right to Bao'an Road-turn left to Liuxiang Road-turn right to Dazhi Road for about 1 kilometer.
Lotuses in Guyi Park
People enjoy walking on the green lawn in spring and viewing the lotuses in summer. The 2011 Shanghai Guyi Garden Lotus Exhibition began at the end of last month and will run until August 28. About 550 varieties of lotus, water lily and bowl lotus will be displayed, including some rare species such as trollius and Victoria amazonica. The exhibition also features a dozen sets of bonsai trees which are precious exhibits from the Humble Administrator's Garden in Suzhou and Flower Harbor Garden in Hangzhou.
The Hangzhou Fan Art Exhibition, with lotus as its theme, presents a collection of Wangxingji paper fans, which is one of the three wonders of Hangzhou.
Visitors are also invited to participate in a lotus photography contest. Photographs should be taken during the 2011 Shanghai Guyi Garden Lotus Exhibition and themed with lotus, water lily and bamboo. People can email their works to guyigarden@yeah.net by August 8,
