JIADING New City is speeding up the construction of its downtown functional area, commercial area and community facilities to build up both an industrialized and urbanized new city.
Jiading New City will launch promotions in Beijing, Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces this year to attract three to five corporate headquarters of listed companies with an annual revenue of more than 20 million yuan (US$3.06 million). At the same time, several leading hotels including Crowne Plaza and Moevenpick may reach agreement with local authorities to set up a presence in the new city. Commercial projects covering a total area of 1.2 million square meters will begin this year and 350,000 square meters of commercial buildings will be on sale by the end of the year.
The New City Building, Science and Education Exhibition Center and Jiading Cultural Activities Center for Workers are expected to start construction within the year. The projects such as the community management center, traffic police squadron, fire brigade and police stations are also ready to launch. Jiading Maternal and Child Care Service Center, Jiading Library and Defu Road Elementary School will be completed. Besides the functional urban management projects, ecological landscapes including a forest ring belt, Shigangmen Pond and Yuanxiang Lake will be completed by the end of this year.
Jiading New City is currently joining hands with Shanghai Planning and Design Institute to work out a plan for the "Best Practice Area on Urban Management outside the Expo Park," focusing on bringing a more sustainable and greener community. Jiading New City is also striving to be the demonstration zone for a "Wise Shanghai," with an artificial intelligent transportation system and an integration of Internet technology, sensor technology and intelligent information processing.
