New hospital impresses patients

TRIAL operation of the Ruijin Hospital North Branch has gone smoothly since its opening three weeks ago in Jiading District.
It handles an average of 900 patients a day with a peak of about 1,300 people, hospital officials said. The hospital has a designed capacity to treat 2,400 patients each day.
The emergency section will open once the trial operation of the out-patient section has been declared successfully.
The hospital provides a special card, with which the patient can make registration, booking appointments and payment less than two minutes, which is quite convenient for the patients. All they need is their ID card to get the hospital card from a self-service machine. Up to 200 patients use the machine every day.
In the hospital there are some mini electric cars shuttling among different clinics for the disabled patients to see the doctors. They can take the car free of charge.
At the gate of out-patient hall there are many wheelchairs ready for elderly people to move about in the hospital.
In the dispensary, an automatic dispensing machine is running quietly, which allows patients to get medicines quickly and easily.
