New schools aim at better balanced education
Seven new schools in Jiading welcomed first year students this month.
“The facility is out of our expectations. The school even has a swimming pool and indoor skating rink,” resident Wu Fang said after visiting the Oriental Ruishi Kindergarten.
At the Shuangding Road Kindergarten, there is a large area of greenery on the first floor, an outdoor platform on the second floor and the main structure on the third floor, all providing an ideal environment for the children. “This year we set up seven classes to meet the demand from the residents nearby,” principal Pan Xiaomin said.
At the beginning of the year, Jiading published its Three-Year Education Development Action Plan with the mission of developing education in a balanced and high-quality way.
To ensure the plan come to fruition, Jiading increases financial investment in education, under which new schools are entitled to a 40-percent subsidy instead of the previous 20-percent.
In the next two years, four new schools will be set up at townships including Huating and Waigang. Six schools will be expanded or reconstructed.
