FAMILY members of foreign students studying in China can apply for companion "L" visas from Chinese embassies and consulates abroad. They must show a Letter of Invitation from the schools.
Upon their arrival, the entry-exit department of the Public Security Bureau shall conduct the visa process for the family member. The term of the family member's stay in China can not exceed that of the student.
