YONGHUI Lamb Breeding Base in Jiading District has turned thousands of tons of sheep manure into organic fertilizers in recent years, reducing environmental pollution and creating a good environment for the society.
The farm collects manure as the sheep pens have a floor with slits. The farm collects more than 10 tons of manure every day.
The manure is then transported to the base's organic fertilizer factory and made into various organic fertilizers with other organic materials such as straw and vegetables after fermentation.
In 2012, Yonghui produced over 10,000 tons of organic fertilizer with a total production value of 40 million yuan (US$6.45 million).
The farm also collects pig manure from neighboring farms.
Since 2008, Yonghui has cooperated with a pig farm in Xuhang Town, which had trouble disposing its manure for years. Yonghui recycled 507 tons of pig manure last year.
