Patience pays off as games companies flock to Lantian

Three years ago, staff from online game company Beijing Gamewave Interactive visited Jiading and passed by Lantian Economic City in Nanxiang Town with no intention of settling down there.

But they were finally won over by Lantian official Pei Jiawen and moved in to became the  first online game company in the economic park.

Over the past three years, Lantian has attracted 86 companies in the game industry which contribute 200 million yuan (US$32.94 million) in tax each year.

To develop the game industry, Lantian invited industry insiders and tax authorities to illustrate the industry and tax policies.

Patience and persistence were also necessary.

To attract investment, Lantian staff needed to fly frequently to first-tier cities and establish relations with various industrial associations, persuading game development companies to move in Lantian.

This year, Lantian opened offices in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

Lantian also gives financial support to infant companies in the economic city.

When Youzu moved to Lantian, the company was at its very beginning. With the support of finance and talent policies, Youzu has grown up rapidly and can now contribute an annual tax payment of 100 million yuan and is about to be listed on the stock market.

Seeing its success, many other game companies have come to Lantian to look for opportunities.

Currently, the Nanxiang Games Industrial Park is under construction. The park, covering more than 26 hectares, is expected to be completed and put into use at the end of next year. It aims to attract more than 100 games companies.
