Plaza breaks ground

JIANGQIAO Wanda Plaza, a project with a total investment of four billion yuan (US$585.7 million), had a ground-breaking ceremony recently. Featuring apartments, shops, SOHO offices, restaurants and pubs, the plaza's total building area reaches 550,000 square meters. It will be open in September 2011.
Auto park
Construction work at Shanghai International Auto City Pioneer Park is in full swing now. It will be completed next September. Covering an area of 44,913 square meters, its building area reaches 57,141 square meters with a total investment of 250 million yuan.
New bank branch
China Zheshang Bank opened a branch in Jiading recently. The branch follows new openings by Bank of Beijing and OCBC Bank in Jiading. The bank showed confidence in the district's auto, real estate and trade industries. The bank is targeting the district's small and medium companies as its customers.
Company awards
A PARTY celebrating the New Year was held for domestic and foreign firms at Malu Town on December 18. Amorepacific Trade Co Ltd was awarded with a prize at the event. The company achieved a sales volume of 680 million yuan (US$99.6 million) and paid tax of 94.39 million yuan, a rise of 55.96 percent compared with the same period last year. Besides, 62 enterprises were awarded a variety of prizes and five entrepreneurs were hailed as honorable citizens.
Coal comfort
By the end of the third quarter, Jiading's major enterprises producing a total of 85 percent of the estimate 45 billion yuan industrial output value this year consumed 960,000 tons of standard coal in total, a decrease of 22 percent compared with the same period last year. Energy consumption per 10,000 yuan of GDP reached 0.088 tons of standard coal, decreasing by 10.1 percent compared with the same period last year.
Night lights
Anting Old Street was listed as one of Shanghai's 10 best night scenes according to the Shanghai Tourism Administration on December 9. Other scenes included Huaihai Road M, the Lujiazui Area and Nanjing Road E, Jing'an Temple, People's Square, Suzhou Creek's Putuo section, the Bund area, Xintiandi and Xujiahui.
Greener lamps
Since the promotion of energy-saving lights among Jiading residents with subsidies provided by the local government, a total of 485,000 energy-saving lamps have been provided to local users.
