PININFARINA China Automobile Research and Development Center signed contracts with Shanghai International Automobile City to settle in the city's technology port when it is completed in 2012. The 1 billion yuan (US$147 million) port will cover 150,000 square meters. It will include workshops and other facilities related to the automobile and car parts industries.

Shanghai Enyi Power Changcheng Switchgear Co Ltd went into operation in the Jiading Industrial Park on August 8. The company was jointly established by Japan's AE Power Systems and Tianshui Changcheng Switchgear Co Ltd with an initial investment of UD$900 million.
Car plastics
Shanghai Jingshang Huaxiang Automobile Parts Co?Ltd in Jiading Anting Town went into production last month. It will supply large automotive plastics to companies such as Shanghai Volkswagen and Shanghai GM. Jingshang Huaxiang acquired the site through auction from a company forced to leave because it was a heavy polluter and inefficient power user.
Hope Town
Shanghai Hope Town celebrated its 17th anniversary recently in Jiading. It was the first privately owned business park in Jiading, with more than 10,000 businesses that pay almost 8 billion yuan in taxes every year. In the first half of this year, Hope Town expanded by 800 projects, adding 771 million yuan to the tax roll.
