Post offices offer 2-way remittances with Taiwan
LI Yongmao, a Taiwan native living in Jiading District for 15 years, was thrilled to learn that China has opened full two-way postal remittance services.
Since February 25, designated Chinese mainland post offices can send outward remittances and receive funds from Taiwan. Presently Chengzhouglu post office and Fengzhuang post office can offer this new service.
Li got up early that day and went to the district's Chengzhonglu post office to find out more. The district's Fengzhuang Post Office also facilitates outward remittances.
"I have frequent business contact with Taiwan," says Li. "In the past, I had to ask acquaintances to help me remit money to Taiwan. That was neither convenient nor safe.
"The full two-way postal remittance services save me a lot of trouble now."
Nowadays, remittances to Taiwan are limited to US$10,000 cash daily, while holders of foreign currency accounts are restricted to US$50,000 a day.
