THE Nanxiang branch of Carrefour Supermarket was fined 500,000 yuan (US$76,029) on February 1 by the Jiading price administration for price fraud. According to the administration, accounting prices of six commodities in the supermarket were found different from their marked prices.
Monitors
The Jiading Drinking Water Source Monitoring Station has begun operation in the Huating Water Source Protection Area, and the North Jiading Air Monitoring Station is now open in the Jiading Industrial Zone. The district is now operating two air monitoring stations, one noise monitoring station and 63 pollution-source monitoring stations, having essentially completed the district's automatic environment monitoring system.
Train yard
Construction of a high-speed train rolling stock yard in Jiangqiao was recently completed. The yard can hold over 100 high-speed trains in an area 3 kilometers long and 0.25 kilometers wide. It will serve as one of the logistics bases of the Hongqiao Traffic Hub. A giant facility to wash trains will also be built this year.
Metro line
The up line, 1,200-meter tunnel for Metro Line 13 was recently linked up, and the down line is expected to be completed before May. Metro Line 13 has three stops in Jiading - Jinshajiang Road W., Fengzhuang Road and the terminal on Huajiang Road. The first phase construction of Metro Line 13 is 16.43 kilometers long and has 14 stops. Its departure station is on Nanjing Road W.
Crime stopper
A Jiading resident named Zhu Zhenhua in Zhenxin Community recently helped capture a thief after spotting him trying to steal an electric motorcycle. Zhu held on to the man until police arrived. Though he was dragged for over 30 meters by the thief on the motorcycle, he escaped with only minor injuries.
Chorography award
Jiading Chorography 2008 was awarded first prize by the China Chorography Association at the second National Chorography Awards Ceremony, which took place in Kunming, capital city of Yunnan Province.
Lotteries
Welfare lotteries in Jiading District last year took in 138 million yuan, an increase of 16 percent from 2009.
