Rare treats in store for city’s bird watchers

A huge number of migratory birds passed through the Liudao Habitat every year when the seasons change, creating a magnificent abundance of bird life.

Tips for bird watching

The ideal periods for bird watching are between spring and summer and when autumn changes to winter. Early morning — 6am to 8am — or 2pm to 4pm in the afternoon are the best times. For forest birds, the best times are in the morning and at nightfall.

Keep your distance from wild birds. Do not get into water or touch bird droppings for safety reasons.

Do not wear colorful clothes or disturb birds with noise. And, of course, do not do anything to drive the birds away.

Remember to bring binoculars with a magnification range from 8 to 10 without yellow or red coating. The magnification for a monocular telescope should be around 20 to 60.

A 200mm telephoto len is ideal for taking photographs.
