Jiading Library hosted a conference involving more than 30 readers鈥 clubs in Shanghai where members shared their reading experiences and other matters of interest with Jiading residents mid this month.
The conference attracted about 500 people including club organizers, ordinary citizens and public library workers.
Conference organizers invited founders and key members from clubs such as Si鈥橬an Readers鈥 Club, Bookworm Tribe and Magic Reading to share their understanding and experiences in reading as well as the special features of different clubs. Two clubs also brought books to host a salon and family event.
There was also an exhibition introducing visitors to a variety of libraries in Shanghai. Visitors talked with club members about the books they liked and some scanned bar codes to listen to audio recordings of book readings.
Xiao Yongjun, a founding member of Yuanxiang Readers鈥 Club penned a few poetic lines: 鈥淏orn by Yuanxiang Lake, it is destined for distinction; surrounded by books, the scent of ink has fostered its unique aura...鈥
Xiao said these lines represented his experiences in this readers鈥 club.
