Recycling concepts start making money

THE concept of recycling goods is helping enterprises in Jiading District to "turn stone into gold."
Many local enterprises are now recycling resources with creative ideas.
At a vegetable base in Huating Town, the annual vegetable waste reaches 6,000 tons, ideal materials to produce marsh gas.
"The daily production of marsh gas at the base reaches 400 to 600 cubic meters, which can provide lighting and heating for the greenhouse.
"The liquid from marsh gas can be used as fertilizer, which saves us 300 tons of fertilizer a year,'' said the base manager.
"The recycling economy has brought us a sound profit."
Shanghai Yonghui Sheep Co Ltd is the biggest sheep farm in the district, selling 10,000 sheep annually. Sheep eat grass and their excrement can be used as fertilizer to enrich the fields, where grass grows. The recycling concept works well.
Fang Yongfei, general manager of Shanghai Yonghui Sheep Co Ltd, said the concept reduced costs and avoided excrement pollution at the farm.
"To expand our scale, we will increase by 1,000 ewes next year,'' Fang said.
At Fuyao Group (Shanghai) Automobile Glass Co Ltd, recycling of waste water saves 600,000 tons of water each year, which reduces its yearly water expenditure by 1.21 million yuan (US$177,221).
