Relocations begin to make way for Jiabei Country Park

PLANS for the Jiabei Country Park have been approved and relocations are under way. The first phase of the park, 9.3 square kilometers, will open in 2017.

The park will cover an area of 14 square kilometers including 11 villages in Waigang Town, Juyuan New Area and Jiading Industrial Zone. Located at the northwest of Jiading New Town, the park will keep the original ecology, culture and living facilities.

From a boat in the Lianqi River, the “mother river of Jiading,” visitors will see continuous forest in the north, and hear the birds singing all along the way.

South of the river, farmland will stretch into the distance. The park will be divided into two parts by the Huyi Road, which is by the side of the Lianqi River. In the north there are forests, flower islands, canals, fruit forests and animal farms, while in the south there are farms, wetlands and cultural sites.

Inside the park, there are three rivers, the Qiqian, Yantietang and Lianqi.

Planners will make use of the existing old temples and trees around the Yantietang River, which was dug in the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-24 AD). Two water rings will be formed around the Qiqian River. The inner ring with 36 isles will be planted with flowers while trees will feature in the outer ring, which will be used for hiking and expeditions.

Xuqin Old Village and organic farm will be set up in the south, while areas for equestrianism, farming, fishing and gardening will be constructed.
