Residents get own thrills from the event
RESIDENTS of Jiading District are experiencing the wonder of World Expo 2010 Shanghai in their own ways.
Pan Zhiqiang, a photography enthusiast from Juyuan New Community, dreams of taking photos at every corner of the Expo Park.
"I've finished half of the outdoor scenes at the Expo Park," Pan said. "After shooting the exterior designs of the pavilions, I will take photos inside."
Pan has been to the Expo Park four times. As the head of Juyuan Photography Club, he is renowned for his fine works in the local photography circle and one of his works "Watching the Olympic Games" is treasured by the Archives of Jiading.
"Many residents at our community cannot wait to visit the World Expo Park after seeing our pictures," Pan said.
He is now planning an Expo photo show to allow more local residents to enjoy the event.
Yu Jian, a Jiading native student studying at Yunnan University, experienced the Expo on the Internet. By visiting "Expo Shanghai Online," Yu found the zones that she liked with just a simple click on the mouse.
"From the Website, I not only see daytime scenes at the Expo Park, but also enjoy beautiful scenes at night," Yu said. "Sometimes, we can even talk online with curators."
Zhang Yanfang, a Jiading native who plans to marry a policeman, delayed her wedding for the sake of her fiance's job in security at the Expo Park. Since her fiance started work at the Expo in April, she has not seen him for more than a month.
To give him a surprise, Zhang visited the Expo Park without telling him.
