Residents’ wishes lead to 30 projects
Thirty services have been created in Juyuan New Area based on wish cards filled out by residents.
“The 30 projects cover all aspects of urban construction and society management, which point out a clear mission for our work,” Zhou Yinyan from Juyuan management authority said.
Zhou and her colleagues listened to the residents patiently during symposiums for different groups, collected more than 500 wish cards, summed up 30 service projects and came up with an implementation plan.
Some residents said that handy service for the residents is widely welcomed but the venue is a bit too far from their homes. In response, the management authority provides services right in the communities and villages, including free knife-sharpening and barber services every month.
Some residents complained that they had to walk a long way to the wet market as the one nearest in the neighborhood had been relocated, so the authority opened some mini wet markets in the community activity rooms.
Juyuan also set up a management network with the whole area divided into 75 parts, and piled up a yellow book so that residents, in need of help, could call team leaders in residential buildings, community workers or volunteers directly.
Community worker Lu Dong takes notes of every complaint from the residents and helped to solve many problems, including a shortage of parking space and air pollution of the smoke from a barbecue restaurant.
Some residents put forward their suggestions of how to better use the large number of public resources in Juyuan, including schools, hospitals and science institutions. Some suggest regular healthcare lectures be given to students as well as more frequent visits organized for the kids to local science and technology institutions.
