Returning Chinese professionals pick Jiading

THE 2011 annual meeting for returned Chinese professionals from overseas was held in Jiading District on September 24.

Over the last three years, more than 6,000 automobile professionals have been attracted to work in Jiading, including more than 500 Chinese who have returned from overseas.

Among them is Hu Zhiyu, head of Shanghai University's Institute of NanoMicro Energy. His current research on nano energy will hopefully shed new light on new methods to cut energy use.

Three others, Xin Jun, Luo Jian and Yuan Yiqing, who all returned to China from the United States, are devoting themselves to developing new-energy vehicles in Jiading.

During the past three years, Jiading has invested 300 million yuan (US$47 million) and has published a series of policies to attract returned professionals and to cope with urgent need for highly skilled personnel.

In the first half of this year, Jiading has implemented the policies and offered 12.6 million yuan in financial support to 14 professionals who returned from overseas. The district has given housing subsidies to 15 overseas returnees and qualified experts.

In the next five years, Jiading will build itself into a base for skilled professionals in the automobile and technology innovation industries.
