Screens will keep farmers in the weather picture

WEATHER forecast screens have been installed in Huating, Xuhang, Waigang towns and Jiading Industrial Zone as an aid to local farmers.
The 75 screens display weather information covering morning, afternoon and evening each day, seven days a week. “We had to watch TV or dial 112 to learn about the weather before, but now we can see it just in our farms,” said farmer Tang Shoufen.
Besides weather forecasts, the screens will give farmers information such as the best time for harvest or sowing seeds.
The screens, operated by Jiading weather department staff, will also carry warnings of bad weather on its way.
Currently, the authorities are testing new functions such as updating the temperature, humidity and rainfall information every minute.
The new functions will begin trial operations in around three months.
