Security measures cut thefts
The increased security surveillance systems installed at communities in Jiading District have helped improved local social security.
Resident Shen Fuxing of Beiguan Village, Malu Town said the number of thefts have dropped significantly.
Walls have been built around his village and security teams patrol the area regularly.
With the surveillance cameras installed at the key crossings and roads, no thefts have been reported in this area since March.
In Nanxiang Town, 39 old style communities have rebuilt their security system and more surveillance cameras have been installed. Thefts have dropped by around 20 percent since then.
The Yingyuan Community has spent more than 60,000 yuan (US$9,836) to set up surveillance cameras in five communities.
The cameras can record clear pictures even at night with infrared technology.
A few days ago, a resident surnamed Chen complained to property management company that her carpet had disappeared from the gate outside her home on Yingyuan Community No. 10 Lane.
After checking surveillance camera footage, the property officials found the carpet was stolen by a rubbish collector and helped Chen to recover it.
