Seniors seek to notarize wills
Dozens of seniors have come daily to Jiading Notary Office for consultations or to make reservations to settle their family affairs, since the office offered free will notarization services beginning last month.
Xu Binyan remarried after his wife died years ago. He came to the office without telling his family members. “I want to notarize my will to give the house to my daughter and avoid dispute after I pass away,” Xu told the notary officer.
Fang Shuxiang, 83, and his wife came to the office to change their will. “I had thought to share my apartment between my son and daughter,” Fang told notary officers. “However, my son has changed his attitude toward us after getting married. He is no longer caring about us.”
Deeply disappointed, Fang told the notary office employees he wanted to leave the apartment to his daughter.
