Shoppers' paradise for everyday items and plenty of bargains

APART from the renowned Nanxiang steamed bun, you can find other snacks in Jiading from Robinson Square.

If you have visited the Shanghai International Circus and Guyi Garden, try Xinzeyuan flower market at Jiangqiao, where you will find famous painters. As for shopping, the textile market on Zhenxin Street is a smart choice for bargains.

Several snack shops have been opened recently on the ground floor and in the north of Robinson Square, two of them selling meat balls. Wanlai Wanqu also serves glutinous cakes cooked with sweet and spicy sauce.

The popular snack of chihao wanhao is roasted meatballs. For those who like spicy food, try beef balls or fish balls. The price for a set of balls is 5 yuan (73 US cents).

Drink outlets here include Starbucks and some other milk tea shops. The Wuyin Liangpin shop sells nice milk tea and herbal tea. Each cup costs 3-6 yuan.

You can also enjoy the famous steamed bun in the square. There is another shop serving Japanese-style bread which is more delicious than traditional bread and cakes.

The Xinzeyuan Flower Market is a comprehensive market divided into garden zone, stone zone, flower zone, and painter's village.

The orchid garden of Xinzeyuan was once the largest venue in Shanghai for propagating and selling orchids. Every spring, an orchid exhibition is held here, attracting many dealers from nearby cities and provinces.

And the most distinctive part of the market is the painter's village, where about 20 artists and sculptors gather. If you are a painting fan, you may find something to your taste during a visit.

The most popular place for bargains in Shanghai should be Qipu Road. But there is a Jiading version of Qipu Road called Shanghai Textile Market. Many Qipu Road dealers and businessmen from the Middle East, Africa and Eastern Europe also buy goods here.

The market provides house wares at extremely low prices. The second floor sells very cheap clothes.

And on the third level, home decor items such as carpets, clocks, glasses and cosmetics are available. Also, there are many kinds of fabric for making clothes.

If you want to buy a traditional Chinese outfit for just 100 yuan, you can definitely get it in this market. One thing to remember, though, is to always bargain to get an ideal price.
