Shows mark district’s 800th anniversary

JIADING has a culture to be proud of and a fascinating history. Eight hundred years ago, the land was officially established as Jiading Town. Named after Emperor Ningzong (1168-1224) in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), the name means clarity and peace in Chinese. The land was home to the ancestors of today’s residents who braved natural perils to survive generation after generation.
Currently, two exhibitions in the district celebrate this special year in Jiading’s history. Exhibition celebrating the many diplomats the district has produced and an ink painting show that features a great many landscape in the district.
During the Spring Festival holiday that will go through next week, these exhibitions are the first choice to visit for local residents, taking active part in the celebrations of the Spring Festival and the anniversary. If you haven’t enjoyed the charm of Jiading, remember to visit the exhibitions before close.
