Small truly beautiful after green face-lifts
Mini gardens are being created in Jiading, giving old residential complexes a green face-lift.
At the Jiale Garden community, a 50-square-meter small garden catches the eye.
It has been planted with Chinese roses, blue fescue and other flowers, some of which are in full bloom and attract many residents to stop and enjoy.
“We make use of as much space as possible to plant these and we hope to see the flowers all year round,” said resident Qiu Yongchang.
To improve the community environment and make it beautiful again, Xincheng Street officials initiated the project to select proper spots for “mini gardens.”
Over the past two years, 33 gardens have been built in 11 communities.
Inspired by the mini garden project, some residents have started to renovate their own gardens, too.
Du Benxiang has arranged over 50 bonsai in his garden.
“We are all a part to build our gardens into a beautiful place,” said a neighborhood official on the project.
