Solar hot water system takes top green prize
AN innovative hot water system powered by solar energy took first prize in a clean-energy contest at Tongji University's Jiading campus.
Bian Jiang and Li Yujie from Tongji University impressed the judges with their novel solution.
"The use of solar energy means a lot for environmental protection, and that's what we're trying to achieve," said Li.
This competition sought to find the best ideas in clean energy and help these ideas turn into successful business plans or products, such as devices which could reduce air pollution, water use and wastes and raise the efficiency of energy, new recyclable energy and new transportation tools.
The competition was staged by Shanghai Entrepreneur Fund Group and sponsored by Clean Tech Open of California and the Kaufmann Fund.
The competition began on October 18, attracting 42 final entries.
The works of the top three winners will be sent to Los Angeles to take part in an international competition.
The final winner will gain consultation services from experts in clean energy valued at up to US$100,000. Shanghai Entrepreneur Fund Group will also follow the progress of these projects and push them into production.
