Solar panels saving energy for companies in Xuhang Town

ENTERPRISES in Jiading’s Xuhang Town are being encouraged to adopt distributed photovoltaic power generation as their new energy source.
One of the first to benefit from the technology is a manufacturer which consumes 7 million kilowatt hours (kWh) a year.
Youbao Rubber and Plastic Products now generates 880,000 kWh of that by itself, or 12 percent of its annual power consumption.
The technology has helped the company save 71.6 tons of coal every year that was costing it more than 20,000 yuan (US$3,080) a month.
The distributed photovoltaic power generators do not take up space in the factory as they are installed on the roof.
The company has 8,000 square meters of solar panels on its roof and plans more. It still has 15,000 square meters of space available.
At the end of January, the Huarong Group began installing solar panels. It aims to have 30,000 square meters of panels which will save the company more than half a million yuan a year.
Xuhang is among the earliest areas in Jiading to promote distributed photovoltaic power generation technology since the district pledged to do so in the middle of last year.
