Special homework for winter vacation

MANY primary and middle school students have special homework in the winter vacation to test their practical and creative abilities.

The vacation concluded on February 17.

Some of the assignments include cooking Chinese New Year's eve dinner, visiting old people who live alone, designing uniforms and writing a children's song.

Chicken with chili, shredded cabbage, spicy tofu and salad is the menu created by Fan Lingchuan, a grade two student from Huating Junior Middle School. He will cook the dishes for Chinese New Year's eve dinner as part of his homework for winter vacation.

Gu Yijie and his fellow friends visited 82-year-old Chen Huiying who lives alone. Chen was happy to see the group of lovely kids. Gu and his friends sang and danced for Chen and helped her do some housework. It was a busy and interesting afternoon.

Another group of students from Liucheng Experimental School often gathered together during the vacation to design a summer uniform for their school as the school launched the school uniform design contest as an assignment.

Meanwhile, Li Luyu from Xincheng Road Primary School was asked to write a nursery rhyme for the playtime break. It was not an easy task and Li asked her mom to work together to finish the assignment.
