Spending increased on housing, water, transport

Beautiful houses, clean water and convenient transport - the living conditions of Jiading people have been improved over the past year.
Jiading government invested 22 million yuan (US$3.2 million) last year to rebuild the water system at commodity houses, reaching a total area of 1.094 million square meters.
Meanwhile, 100 million yuan was invested in renovating 500,000 square meters of apartments and 28.81 million yuan was spent treating sewage.
To add fun to residents' daily life, Jiading government spent 10.01 million yuan on building 15 standard activity centers for the seniors, 14.6 million yuan on 15 city-standard public health centers at villages, 3.09 million yuan on establishing three new public exercise areas at communities in Jiading Town, Xincheng Road community and Huating Town, and 2 million yuan on 20 new exercise spots for farmers.
Tang Huaiheng, a 69-year-old resident living at Lianhua Village in Huating Town, goes to the "Jiayuan Activity Center for the Seniors" every day. More than 100 old people gather there, reading newspapers and playing chess and cards. "I feel at a loss if I don't come to the center for even one day," Tang says.
Local government support was also given to employment. Last year, Jiading created 26,988 new jobs. Vocational training was given to 17,767 people and 60,348 farmers were trained in safe production.
Also, job opportunities were provided by 103 internships for college graduates. Subsidies were provided to 2,638 employees from 14 enterprises which faced a "tough time."
