Stars out for movie awards
WELL-KNOWN Chinese actresses Qin Yi and Lu Liping were among guests at the awards ceremony of the fourth 9-Minute Movie Competition at Jiading Cultural Hall on July 6.
Fourteen awards were handed out, including Most Popular Movie, Best Movie, Best Photographer, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Editor and the Special Contribution Award.
“Barber,” directed by Chen Congcong from South China’s Guangdong Province, received 1 million yuan (US$163,934) venture capital to shoot a full-length film.
The Best Director award went to Zhou Xiaowen for “A Box of Gold,” while the Best Scriptwriter honor went to Wu Linfeng and Luo Le for “Broiling Sun.”
In total, 350 teams took part in the competition, with 2,000 stories and more than 30 short movies submitted.
Qiu Qi, founder of the competition also said that the Youth Dream Town project will be completed in October, offering an outstanding film production base in Shanghai.
The Huayi Brothers will sponsor the next 9-Minute Movie Competition, which was launched at the ceremony.
