Summer with traditional culture and social activities
LOTS of cultural and social activities are available for the students in Jiading District during this summer vacation as a variety of events are being held by local culture departments, radio and TV stations, towns and sub-districts.
Modern technology is always attractive among the youth.
At Lu Yanshao Art Gallery, visitors can find a description, introduction and skills of the famous painter's landscape paintings on a monitor at a simple touch of the screen.
The gallery's "Falling in love with galleries" series of activities include exhibitions on Chinese painting, oil painting, woodprint, calligraphy and porcelain, which will last until the end of August.
A magician skill training class "Secrets of the Magician" was held by Jiading District Library from July 2 to 6 revealing magic skills to students.
Many of the attendees are loyal fans of the course and Yan Zhonghao is one of them. Last year he learnt two tricks and found it very interesting, and he applied for the training again this year, Yan's mother said.
"Whenever guests visit our family, Yan will show off his tricks with excellent performance," she added.
In addition to the training, the library presents six other activities, including paper cutting classes and the donation of books for schools that have students from migrant workers' families.
Serving as a volunteer guide at Jiading Museum is another way for students to gain valuable social experience, a practice that has become a tradition for over 10 years.
This month five new volunteers have joined and are practicing their skills under the guidance of senior ones.
