THE 2011 Taiwan Produce Exhibition and Cross-Strait Cultural Industry Expo will be held from September 9-13 at Shanghai International Automobile Exhibition Center, the fifth time for the Taiwan fair to come to Anting.
The fair will last for five days with more than 1,000 stands where visitors can enjoy various special Taiwanese performances such as puppet shows, Betel nut beauties and hundreds of Taiwanese specialties and snacks. Two to three Cross-Strait investment resources exchanges will be held every day as well as an innovative design competition, a selection of 10 favorite goods by Taiwanese manufacturers, daily Taiwan specialties giveaways and other activities.
It is reported that the last four Taiwan fairs attracted tens of thousands of Taiwanese businessmen and more than 400,000 visitors.
Dayu favored
Dayu Village in Malu Town was selected as one of the "top 10 favorite villages" in Shanghai last month. The 10 selected villages will be included in the Shanghai rural tour route and promotion system.
Mutton makes heritage list
The third Shanghai intangible cultural heritage list was released recently, and the Jiangqiao mutton processing technique was included. Now Jiading District has 20 intangible cultural heritages, including three national, eight municipal and nine district-level legacies.
Lakeside park approved
The lakeside cultural park, part of the Ziqidonglai greenland project, entered the final approval for construction. Situated between Yumin Road S. and Aksu Road and covering 90,000 square meters, the park is composed of a small island, bamboo grove, open-air theater, bookstore, art gallery, adventure playground and other areas. Ziqidonglai is 2,400 meters long and 335 meters wide and consists of five parks including the lakeside cultural park.
Shenzhen film
A preview of "In Shenzhen," a film in celebration of the 26th Summer Universiade in Shenzhen by Lin Xujian who is a director at Jiading TV Station, has gained great popularity on video websites such as Sina and Youku. The film featuring an ordinary family outlines urban life in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province.
Qian's cottage revamp
Qianyan Cottage, located in the West Bole Square, is currently undergoing interior decoration and will reopen to the public in early September. Qianyan Cottage is a former residence of Qian Daxin, who was also a native of Jiading. It will exhibit Qian's paintings and calligraphy, goods for daily use and offer a graphic introduction to his life story. Qian was the most knowledgeable Chinese academic master and a famous scholar in the 18th century.
