'Talk and sing' performance wows appreciative crowd

PEOPLE from Qianqiao Village in Xuhang Town and Xuhang Folk Talk and Sing Troupe recently stepped onto the stage together and performed their original song "The Great Moment of the Strong Country of Culture." The tune was done in a "talk and sing" style and judged by the audience's loud applause, it was a big hit.
"Talk and sing" is a form of Chinese folk art with many styles. This includes bianwen (a form of narrative literature), pinghua (storytelling in a local dialect), kuaishu (rhythmic storytelling accompanied by bamboo or copper clappers), dagu (a versified story sung to the accompaniment of a small drum and other instruments), crosstalk, tanci (storytelling with the accompaniment of stringed instruments), daoqing (a form of chanting folk tales with the accompaniment of simple percussion instruments) and baojuan (religious stories).
