The digital age and how we have to adapt

THE "Jiading Declaration," a document advocating industrial innovation, globalization and public service in China's media industry, was issued at the conclusion of the first China Media and Internet Value Summit in Jiading.

The declaration outlines the goal and vision of media and Internet industries in China: to promote understanding and exchange of multi-cultures, to promote industrial application of new technology, and to create new and easier information channels with the public.

Also known as Confucius Temple Forum, the summit attracted more than 150 media and Internet professionals.

Among the discussion topics was the role of the media and Internet in China's economic development, modern media promotion and cultural innovation, and how to make the media more valuable under the age of Internet and 4G of mobile phones.

Sun Jiwei, director of the Jiading District, said that the district will continue to develop technologies relating to digital networks.

Liao Hong, chief editor of people.com.cn, noted at the forum that the proliferation of the Internet and mobile Internet endows media professionals with a new mission.
