Theater and hotel headline new construction

A groundbreaking ceremony for construction of the Jiading Poly Grand Theater and the Shanghai Poly Hyatt Hotel was held on June 28. The theater will be completed in 2013.
The design by renowned architect Tadao Ando calls for the first waterscape theater in Shanghai. It will combine artful geometrics with the natural elements of water, light and wind in a setting described to be "magical."
The theater will have a construction area of 50,000 square meters and features a 1500-seat main hall and a 400-seat multi-function hall. It will be able to host an array of arts, including opera, symphony, dance and drama.
The new five-star Hyatt hotel will feature 350 rooms and include full support facilities, including restaurants, bars and a fitness center.
