Tremendous changes have taken place in Jiading with new places for eating, drinking and having fun. People can find new things here nearly every day. Let's take a look around.
Gourmands' paradise
Walking out of the Nanxiang Station of Metro Line 11, you can see MCC Shineton City Plaza in front of you. It is a gourmands' paradise where you can treat yourself with almost everything you want to eat, such as fast food outlets Xiaoyang Shengjian, Coco milk tea and McDonald. Office employees can have breakfast here for just 10 yuan.
A feature of the plaza is its variety of foods, such as Hong Kong style, Thai style and hotpot.
In addition to restaurants, there are many choices from bakeries and dessert shops in the plaza, such as chocolate cake from the Paris Baguette, mango pudding from the Honeymoon dessert and ice-cream form Iceason.
Nanxiang residents go to the plaza frequently, not only for dining and shopping, but also for their children to play. Children love the Lollipop Playground on the third floor. It costs 65 yuan per visit.
As for young people, Poly Theater and Happy Star Party KTV are ideal places. Members of the Poly Theater can watch a movie for 25 yuan, while it costs 9 yuan or more per hour per person at Happy Star Party KTV.

How long has it been since you went into a public reading room or library?
Computer games and mobile devices have made us forget about the passion we had for reading during our childhood.
We need to pick up some books and recall that same feeling.
Compared to traditional reading rooms, the Pingdu reading room in the Life Hub at Anting Shopping Mall is different because nearly 10,000 books, from classics, literature to philosophy, have been donated by the public.
Reading books there is an enjoyable experience. From well-organized and classified shelves to creatively designed magazine racks, people can feel the creativity of the reading room designer. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed.

Vegetarian restaurant
At the Chanyuan Vegetarian Restaurant at Xiangdong Buddha Statue Museum, wooden chairs and tables, simple bamboo decoration, soft lighting and elegant music played on the guqin, a seven-string zither, create a feeling of quiet and elegance. Porcelain tableware and bamboo utensils on the table and bamboo grove outside the window will make you forget about the noise of the city outside.
Meat features prominently on the menu, but it's all vegetarian duck, salad, vegetarian sweet and sour pork and vegetarian steak among other dishes looking, smelling and tasting excellent. The restaurant's desserts are also delicious.
The head chef surnamed Chen is a Buddhist who used to work in a five-star hotel in downtown Shanghai. He chooses high quality ingredients with organic vegetables and sauces from Taiwan and Japan.

Puzzle room
You wake up from the darkness and find yourself in a strange room where the door is locked from the outside. The only thing you can do is to find the key to the door… That might be a normal scene in a thrilling movie but it can now be experienced in Jiading. A game called "Ai Yama" developed by four students from Tongji University, has been launched in Anting and is the first of its kind in Jiading.
Since the opening of the puzzle room on March 13, hundreds of people have taken up the challenge.
"There are many characters in the game with complex relationships. The player needs make clear of the numerous clues and find the plot by logical reasoning and escape from the room within one hour," said one of the game's creators.
