Thousands get in gear for auto festival

THE Chinese Grand Prix 2013, a highlight of the annual Shanghai Automobile Culture Festival, was held during April 12-14 at the Shanghai International Circuit in Jiading District.
The three-day race attracted nearly 100,000 visitors. Another attraction was the electric car experience, which had 5,000 enthusiasts keen to learn about the nine types of electric cars on display.
The festival. which ends today, featured commercial activities, a music festival and a race car show among many other events.
Shanghai Vice Mayor Zhao Wen attended the opening ceremony of the festival and visited the electric car experience zone, auto carnival zone and Jiading local snack market.
