Training ourselves to enjoy the city's rush hours
SUBCONSCIOUSLY, the subway has become one reason for many people to like Shanghai - the clean stations and trains all reflect the cultural environment of the big city.
At the station exits, there are often buskers playing guitars and singing songs. For those who are generous enough, they will respond with a smile, and even though most people just pass by, they never get angry.
The Season Wind Bookstore also brings some culture to the subway. Every time I pass the store, I can't help but enter and read for a while. It has become a habit. Readers like me live all over the city, and the bookstore has become our bridge. If there were not such a bookstore, we would lack a spiritual part in our life.
In the subway, the advertisements are especially attractive. It doesn't matter whether they are advertising high-tech digital products, delicious foods, cars or clothing by world-famous brands, all these colorful advertisements flood into the subways, displaying the modern tastes of the city. As well, if you take the subway in the morning, you can get a newspaper for free.
Since the subway benefits citizens a lot, it has become more and more popular with the passengers, which has led to the unique "crowded culture" of the subway. If you have experienced the morning rush hour in the subway, you will never forget that feeling of being crowded. At the height, people will throw all their subway culture behind and take part in a "hand-to-hand fighting."
I used to live near Lianhua Road. Although the Lianhua Road Station is the third stop of Metro line 1, it's also a tough job to get on the train in the morning rush - people are always being pushed into the train, clinging to the doors. When we get to the next stop, some people will choose to get off the train and wait for the next train. In Shanghai if a lady is not strong enough, I suggest she does not take the subway in peak hours. Otherwise it could be torture.
However, we have to admit that the subway brings more benefits than disadvantages to our citizens. Our subway is getting better and better and we will definitely enjoy the subway even more in the future.
