Traveling by bus made easier with app

An app giving information of easier access to bus routes in Jiading has come online, a boon for people rushing to catch a bus or find they are waiting too long for one.

It can be downloaded at http://www.jd-bus.com and has three main functions — checking arrival time, planning routes or pinpointing the nearest stops.

Statistics for 80 bus lines, such as the stops along the way and real-time positions, are included.

Tao Lijuan, who takes Jiading Line 9 or 14 on a regular basis, has found the app helpful. Before leaving home, she can open the app to see how far the bus she wants is from her stop and when it is expected to arrive.

When you intend to take a certain bus line but have no idea where to find it, the app can tell you where the stops are and it will also highlight the name of the nearest stop to save your time and effort.

Sometimes a passenger might not know how to get to a certain place.

Clicking “Route Planning” in the app and it will locate where you are and plan the fastest routes with the fewest transfers.

For each of the three preferences, multiple routes are provided to users who can choose to save most time or walk the least distance.

When a passenger is standing at a spot he is not familiar with, the app will help find out bus stops available around the area, showing not only the lines and where these stops are, but also their names and how far away they are.

Passengers trying out the app have welcomed the service and have given their advice on how to improve it, suggesting a navigation function or a “lost and found” page.
