THE output value of Jiading's auto enterprises in the first quarter of the year reached 18 billion yuan (US$2.637billion), 79.8 percent more than the same period last year.
It accounted for 38 percent of the district's economy.
The profit of Jiading's auto enterprises in January and February reached 1.14 billion yuan, an increase of 420 percent over last year. It accounted for 60.5 percent of the district's total profit from industrial enterprises.
The auto industry in the district has been growing in recent years as more auto manufacturing enterprises settle in Jiading.
Headquartered in Sweden, Autolive is a worldwide leader in the automotive safety systems industry.
It established an airbag manufacturing enterprise in Jiading 11 years ago and local government helped with its factory expansion and talent hiring. As a result, its China headquarters, China technology center and China management company have moved to Jiading. Last year, it achieved sales revenue of 4.3 billion yuan.
Italy's Fiat Group established Fiat Powertrain Technologies (Shanghai) Co Ltd in Jiading three years ago.
With strong support from the local government, its management company, purchasing center and China headquarters settled in the district two years ago.
Shanghai Automotive Transmission Company is planning to relocate to Jiading Industrial Zone. With an investment of 3 billion yuan in the first phase, it will start construction in May.
Brose Group has undergone four stages of expansion in Jiading.
Settling in the district 11 years ago, it achieved annual sales volumes worth 2 billion yuan in value, accounting for two-thirds of its total revenue in China.
It accounted for 38 percent of the district's economy.
