Vehicles spark children’s imagination
A variety of vintage vehicles and creative cars are on display at Jiading’s Shanghai Auto Museum in an exhibition specially designed for parents and children.
It is the first time the museum hosts such a show and plenty of visitors turned up to take a look.
Among the things they can see are German traffic lights and an American child’s scooter produced during the 1930s.
Some cars were made from soap boxes, while some logos showed different animals.
To little children, the exhibition must have seemed like a toy heaven.
Covering more than 700 square meters on the fourth floor of the museum, the exhibition is in three sections — No-Fuel Kingdom, Crazy Car Town and Car-nival — and showcases 150 items in the collection. Walking into the hall, visitors will find a little kingdom of cars rather than a normal museum.
The exhibition aims to put an emphasis on “scenery” and “exploring,” rather than static ways to tell stories like traditional museums. In the gallery, there are multimedia interactive programs for family members to experience together.
“An exhibition of this kind can trigger my son’s thirst for knowledge, and in the meantime I can recall my childhood from a long time ago,” said one father who brought his son to the exhibition on the first day it opened.
The museum offers a Mutual Game Booklet for visitors which combines both education and entertainment. Through an interesting question and answer section, little children can understand the exhibition more easily.
In addition, an experience zone is open on the first floor, adding to the fun for children visiting the exhibition.
