WHO partnership in good health
JIADING District Healthcare and Family Planning Commission has been named as a World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Primary Health Care.
This follows negotiations between the National Healthcare and Family Planning Commission and the WHO.
It marks the 10th round of cooperation between Jiading District and the WHO. Top leaders of the National Healthcare and Family Planning Commission took part in the naming ceremony.
Under the partnership, Jiading will carry out research on community care systems for the aged; training and management of a new generation of village doctors in rural areas; public health services by general practitioners; medical care for chronic diseases; and reform of community healthcare services based on key areas of WHO and national health policy.
More exchanges
At the same time, Jiading will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with nations and institutions which have already signed the exchange memorandum with the WHO.
The district will also cooperate with domestic centers to carry out exchanges and training; undertake scientific research; provide a reference for the development of Chinese health service management; and play a positive role in domestic and international exchanges.
Jiading was first named by the WHO as a Collaborating Center for Primary Health Care in 1980. Since then, the district has conducted research in seven fields.
In collaboration with the WHO, Jiading has carried out explorations of a rural cooperative healthcare system and set up a district-level serious disease safeguard mechanism — the first in China.
Jiading has been recognized as a model in this field by the Ministry of Health.
