Wartime script discovered
A script probably hand written by Bai Chongxi (1893-1966), defense minister of the Republic of China (1911-1949), has been discovered at Putong Primary School in Jiading recently, during the first national movable historical relic survey.
The 26-character script was written during the Chinese war against Japanese invasion.
Jiading native Wu Yunchu (1891-1953), the founder of China’s gourmet powder industry, wrote to Bai requesting him to order the army not to occupy the school for military purposes.
Bai replied with the script, prohibiting the army to station soldiers at the school.
Jiading Museum plans to invite experts to check the authenticity of the script.
