Water energy cutter a goer

A NEW cutting and welding machine driven by water energy is in production at Jiangqiao Town in Jiading District after a one-year trial.
With the machine, cutting a steel plate 15-centimeter-wide and 1.5-centimeter-thick will be as easy as slicing a cake.
Invented by local man Gui Jianming, the prototype has been on trial since last April at Shanghai Huanqiu Refrigeration Equipment Co Ltd.
As a result of user feedback, Gui continuously improved the safety and practical functions of the machine and finally got it endorsed by experts.
Last May, Gui signed a technology agreement with Jiangsu Feiluo Environment Protection Project Equipment Company to co-develop the machine and was granted 300,000 yuan (US$43,945) compensation for the invention.
Currently, 10 technicians from Shanghai Qilian Company where Gui works are working on the production.
This year, 100 machines will be available on the market.
The buyers will include Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co Ltd and Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery Co Ltd.
